Trip Info:

Snickers Gap(Rt7) – Manassas Gap (Rt725) Virginia and

Gathland–Washington Mnmt SP Maryland March 27-30, 2009

Location: Shenandoah National Park, Appalachian Trail Map 9 (Sat – Mon) LONG

Maryland Appalachian Trail, Map 5&6 (MD Sections 1-7 (Fri – Sun) SHORT 

Mandatory Pack Check on Thursday March 26 at troop meeting.  The food and gear distribution will also take place at this time.

Departure: LONG TRIP  Meet at St. Patrick’s on SAT. Morning, March 28 @ 5:30 am, sharp!

SHORT TRIP Meet at St. Patrick’s on FRI afternoon March 27 @ 4:30 pm          

Return:  LONG – St. Patricks’s approximately 5:00 pm on Monday, March 30^th.

SHORT – St Patrci ck’s approximately 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 29^th.                          

Activity: Backpacking on the famous Appalachian Trail, the premier trail, this side of the Mississippi.   The long trip is in Northern VA, Map 8 of the AT.  The shorter routes are 6-8 mile hikes and will be on Map 5&6 of the AT in MD.

PLEASE NOTE:  EVENINGS and MORNINGS COULD BE CHILLY, RAIN LIKELY, plan accordingly.

What you should bring:  GOOD BOOTS and SOCKS!! Adventurous Spirit, and GO LIGHT AS POSSIBLE!
